  • Is it time for an intervention with your business?

    Date: 2012.02.25 | Category: Women | Response: 0

I am a sole proprietor of a small business, essentially a one woman show, for all intents and purposes.  Does that mean I do everything by myself?  Not on your life. My better half  is quick to ensure our dogs get out for the daily runs if he sees that my day is full of  client calls. My  friends help me out with errands or dog sitting or even just meeting up for coffee  to make sure I get the hell out of the house and see the sky.

Working on your own is exhilarating and  fun and lonely and frustrating and so much more than all of that.

I know that many women who are small business owners struggle with “work, life, balance” issues. They are of the belief that they can’t take time out for themselves, they find it hard to give themselves permission  to step away from the work,  just in case something happens.

Have you ever watched a gambling addict at a casino? You know the one: they can’t step away from the machine even for a second because they know the next big win is just waiting for them.

One time I visited a new casino in Florida because we had coupons to eat there. As I walked past the line of telephones a woman collapsed on the floor, bam, right in front of me. She didn’t even have time to hang up the phone. I learned later that she had been inside at the casino for more than 24 hours straight! I don’t think I have ever done anything for 24 hours, except breathe. She was pasty and exhausted and dehydrated and apparently used  Depends so she didn’t even have to leave to go to the washroom!  Yikes!

I see lots of people who seem to be addicted to their businesses.  They cannot leave, they cannot take any time off even when they are not well. They give me lots of good reasons for their behavior but, truth, the bottom line is that this is a choice. We all have choice in our lives  about who we want to be and how we want to be.

Since I am not perfect, I know that probably shocks some of you,  I do over extend myself some days. I may try to accommodate  a client by changing an appointment for them when I already have several calls that day. I am learning though because I know this for sure: if I do not take care of me then my clients are not cared for properly, my family is not cared for and my two lovely dogs are not properly cared for.

Some days it’s hard to let the phone ring and take me time but I am taking my lesson from the woman at the casino ” you have to know when to hold ‘em and know when to fold ‘em” and if you don’t, at some point you’re probably going to fall flat on your face, bam, just like that.

  • Martin Luther King Jr did not write this.

    Date: 2012.01.16 | Category: Women | Response: 0

We who are in our fifties, the movement begins

I hope you take the time to watch this video, it is my personal plea to all of us..

Today is the birthdate of Martin Luther King Jr. If ever there was a person that believes in his dream, “I have a dream” it was he.

If ever there was a man who could not, would not, take any other path toward equality it was him.

Today I am inspired to continue with my dream of teaching a million women how to make a  million dollars by turning their passion into profit. No over night gimmicks, no make money fast shtick. This is a program that will challenge your beliefs, turn you upside down and inside out and give you the opportunity, finally,to live a truthful life.

Today, as I remember the great and never failing Martin Luther King Jr, I give thanks for his  tenacity, his persistence, his commitment to his bigger picture and I am pressed to move on despite all the naysayers and non believers.

I too have adream…I wish for all women to be empowered, to be equal, to be included in the  financial conversations around the world. Money is power, no doubt, let’s take it back…

  • Life coach gone psycho!

    Date: 2012.01.12 | Category: Women | Response: 0

Today is the day I launch my new coaching contest  and it’s an exciting day for many reasons.

Today is the day you learn about my movement Helping Millions Make Millions.

Why do you care? What difference will any of this make to me Jan? What’s so special about what you’re doing and how the hell is it going to

make any difference in my life?  There’s no way this is going to do anything for me so I’m not reading one more word…

Wait! Just wait! Before you leave this page and go look for some other way to get yourself distracted consider this:

Women make up 53% of the population in the world. That’s pretty awesome.

Women earn 1% of the wealth in the world. That’s not so awesome.

“Personal factories” aka small business owners are going to be the game changers in the global economy.

Women 55 and older have the most success with running a small business: staying in business and being financially

sound with their businesses. That’s YOU!

By the time we reach 80 (assuming we will) most women live in poverty: that’s not so awesome and that’s in North America only. In the rest of the world women live in poverty at a much younger age: some forever.

So what does this have to do with you? Well the good news is this: My movement Helping Millions Make Millions is designed to teach a million women how to turn their passion into profit and earn a million dollars. No it’s not a “sham wow” program: you will have to work and you will have to take responsibility for your finances (I know eeeek!) and you won’t make the million overnight (well you might but the goal is to do this over a few years.)

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do something you love instead of working at a JOB? Wouldn’t it be nice to stop worrying about your retirement and whether you’ll have enough money? Wouldn’t it be nice to share out your success with your family and your community? Women don’t hoard our money we share it out and we ensure our communities are thriving. Wouldn’t you love to be part of a movement like that?

I have to tell you I am really super excited about this. I picture a million women all in a room and each one of them has begun their own path of financial freedom.

Each one has turned their passion (dogs/kids/gardening/writing/cleaning/horses/technology/cars etc) into a profitable business. I picutre each of those million women sharing their knowledge with at least two other women: with their families: with their neighbours…

Imagine what the world would be like if women held the financial purse strings. Do you think there would be less bullying? Do you think there would be less aggression?

Do you think there would be an emphasis on taking care of the beloved Mother of Mothers Mama Earth? I do and that’s why this gets my juices flowing like Niagara Falls. I am so psyched up about this I can’t even tell you…

    And so the details:

I am limiting this to 60 women for 2012

You must be 45 or older

You must sign up for the platinum level coaching at http://www.tobeyourbest.net/coach-html.

You must sign up for three months.

Each of the 60  women will be entered in a draw. One will win $10000.00 Canadian! (yes you read that right it is 4 zeros as in ten thousand)

Each of the 60 women will be invited to my live conference in Collingwood and you’ll also receive an extra ticket to bring a friend

Each of the 60 women will be given $500 at the conference to do whatever you want: pay your hotel bill or pay for your flight or give it away…whatever.

Each of the 60 women will be interviewed at the conference and included in a special promotion.

Each of the 60 women will be part of a production that will air at a later date: a series of success stories that you can share and use to inspire others.

Each of the 60 women will have a chance to get up and speak at the conference: to share your story and to inspire others to join the movement.

Each of the 60 women will receive a percentage of future sales if they have friends who sign on for this coaching.

    Good grief I’m psyched…some think I’m psycho but really I’m just psyched…

Whatcha waiting for? Go sign up. You have absolutely nothing to lose (well actually that’s not true. You will lose your fear of being shiny and brilliant and wonderful and amazing!)

And just for fun: let’s make it a mob flash at the conference. A millionaire mob flash. You in?

Hey you never know perhaps we’ll get enough pr to have Oprah or Suze Orman show up…

  • 2012..catastrophe? What catastrophe…sh*t my titles use

    Date: 2012.01.03 | Category: Women | Response: 1

I hear  it all the time, standing in line ups, waiting to pay for food, collecting my money from the bank…” wow money sure  is tight right now. I sure would love to win the lottery”  i listen and ask what they would do if they won…”don’t know but i would quit my job right away.” as i make my way out of the building Ioften see those same complainers happily handing over ten or twenty bucks to the cashier at the lottery booth…

So here’s what I  make of conversations like that.

    1. They hate their job

    2. They’re trading their valuable time for something they hate

    3. They don’t have a clue about their goals…if you ask me how i would spend lottery winnings I can tell you right away..

    4. They don’t want to, or don’t know how, to change this situation…

So here are a few ways to make change happen.

    1. First, you have to want something different

    2. Second, you have to be willing to try.

    3. Get out of victim mode and take responsibility for yourself.

    4. Hire a life coach…work together for a few months

    5. Join in a group coaching program on the phone  if money feels a little tight

    6. Listen to our radio programs to be inspired to create change

    7. Become an angel investor to someone who wants coaching

    8. Donate money to www .kiva.org to support small biz start ups.

    9. Share your story, wrote, speak, yell from the rooftops if you have to

    10. Come to a live coaching event, be inspired, be m

  • Never never never say never.

    Date: 2011.11.25 | Category: Career Path | Response: 0

There are days when even I decide that I’ve had enough..ok well maybe not days but certainly minutes. I wonder if people like Oprah or Martin Luther King Jr. or Arlene Dickinson or Rick Hansen ever felt like throwing in the towel?

Don’t get me wrong here: I’m not projecting negative energy I hope what I am trying to do is step into the truth of never giving up on your dreams. In this case it’s my dream: my dream to teach a million women to uncover their passion: turn it into a profit and earn a million dollars doing what they love. This is not an overnight project for me or for any of the women involved. It’s not an easy to do project either: this takes hard work and commitment and these women are prepared to do both. They’ve drawn the line in the sand and they’re going for it…I admire their courage…

Helping Millions Make Millions is the movement and sometimes when I share that with folks: well they look at me kinda strange like perhaps I’ve just escaped from the hospital or I forgot to take my medication that day or I’m just plain delusional. Those folks probably gave up on their dreams a long time ago and I’m not going to let them be dream vampires to me..

I have a picture on my vision board that looks like a crowd of a million people: it’s from Martin Luther King Jr’s speech at Washington in which he is quoted ” I have a dream….” his famous speech and eventually it came true: this dream of dreams. That photo is my inspiration for my own dream of teaching a million women how to become empowered financially….”I have a dream” ” I have a movement” I continue to be inspired by the women who are already on this amazing journey: from teacher to dog walker/ from logistic transportation to dog groomer/ from stay at home mom to wellness masseuse/ from stay at home mom to teacher…They are my inspiration: thank you my friends for believing in your own dreams: for drawing the line in the sand and going for it no matter what. You keep me humble and grateful.

  • An Irish girl shares her tips of finding your own pot of gold.

    Date: 2011.03.16 | Category: Career Path | Response: 0

Well it’s official, tomorrow is the day people around the world celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Even if you’re not Irish the idea of drinking green beer appeals to many people.

Here’s something else I’ve noticed over the years, people really want to find that pot of gold, you know the one at the end of the rainbow….Well my friends I’m happy to tell you that I have figured out where that pot of gold is and I’m sharing it with you today!

Now, I can tell you this secret because I’m an Irish citizen, have been for almost thirty years, even though Ilive in Canada. I hope that I’m not spreading any national secrets like Wiki Leaks but I’m pretty sure it’ll be ok to do so.

First off, what’s the reason for wanting to find a pot of gold? That’s a question I ask people  and here are a few answers. ” It would make my life so much easier.” “I deserve it” . “I know once I have that much money I’ll be happy.” “I worked hard all my life it’s my turn” ….

Ok then if you found the pot of gold what would you do with it? This is the part where people get stuck…they just believe that they would like loads of money but then they’re not sure what they’d do with it. Oh sure, they’d pay off bills, buy a house or two,  a fancy car, but then what? If you don’t have a vision how do you know if you’re on the right track?

I’ve studied hundreds of business owners and entrepreneurs over the years and many of them would appear to have found their own pot of gold. They have the cars, the houses, they take nice trips, they wear fancy clothes…Ask any of them and I bet you a pot of gold that the reason they are successful comes down to two things: love what you do and be prepared to work hard, very hard, for what you want. Tada! There you have it folks, there’s the pot of gold! No magic formula, no rainbows to climb over…hard work and love what you do. So, you want to find your pot of gold? Well you’re in luck because I’ve started a movement called Helping Millions Make Millions. I am going to teach a million women how to begin making a million dollars by turning their passion into profit! You in? Are you ready to start working toward your dreams or are you going to keep looking for that pot of gold? Be fearless, Jan

  • There is no use trying…so says Alice

Date: 2011.02.12 | Category: Career Path, Women | Response: 0

“There is no use trying” said Alice: “one can’t believe impossible things.”

I dare say you haven’t had much practise” said the Queen. “When I was your age I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

Lewis Carroll from Alice in Wonderland

So, I ask you, what’s your impossible? Mine is my movement, and it’s not that I find it impossible to believe, it’s that so many others do not believe it to be possible. What’s my movement? Teaching a million women how to earn a million dollars by turning their passion into profit. I know it’s possible, I’m proof and so are the many women who are, or have, worked with me in the last four years. Dog groomers, dog walkers, writers, caterers, house cleaners, landscape architects, tutors, bakers….you name it  and there’s a way to make a millions dollars in that business.  But don’t take my word for it, sign up for a coaching program and, if you haven’t been able to tap into your passion after three months I’ll refund your money, ALL your money, and I’ll even throw in a lottery ticket for you too!

  • Donald Trump, Oprah and “bama?” What’s a “bama?”

Date: 2011.02.08 | Category: Career Path, Women | Response: 0

Oprah featured Donald Trump and his entire family on her show today. Quite a coup for the lady of daytime television. There was a lot of talk about family and business and merging the two without making frenemies…

Oprah speaks often of her ability to keep her work a separate entity in her life as well, so does her friend Gayle…y’all know Gayle right? The illustrious radio/tv talk show host Gayle King…her new show is done really well by the way.

Bama…what the heck is a “bama?” and why use that word in the same sentence as the Donald and Madam Winfrey….Well Bama is a woman, a small business owner I interviewed in Florida a few weeks ago. She owns a restaurant called PJ’s and they’ve been in business for 26 years. Bama bought the business just as the economy was taking a nose dive, in a tourist town where tourists were no longer traveling…I was curious about her success and today I saw a theme I have always known about but feel it very important to share out with my readers.

Each and every one of those people, the Donald, Oprah, Bama: they all say the same thing when asked “How do you stay focused when things get really tough, and they do get really tough?” They may say it a little differently but the intent is this : “do what you love, you MUST be passionate about what you do to make your profits or, when the going gets tough, you’re not going to want to stick around.” Amen to that one my friends, amen to that one!

The last six weeks of my traveling tour, taking my helping millions make millions tour on the road, has been a great adventure, a great learning time and a dedication and devotion to my mission of teaching a million women how to make a million dollars…After talking to so many people about their businesses, people who have lost their homes, people who cried when they came to see my dogs while I walked the beaches because they had lost their pets when they lost their homes, people who are working for $4.23 an hour!, people who are losing their will to live because they can’t afford their medical treatments….I cannot tell you how committed I am to this work. In this land, in this time of the world, people do not need to be hungry…to be fearful of their financial future and the only reason they are is because they’ve not been given the proper tools. Well folks that’s all gonna change, right here, right now: My small business coaching programs will show you how to uncover your passions and turn them into profits so that you, not the banks, not your boss, not the government, will be in charge of your finances!

There are many options to choose from with my new programs, and, if you say money is what is keeping you from signing up, well we can take care of that for you too…http://womenshealthandwellnesscoach.com/products-page/

Come join in the revolution ladies, the financial revolution! It’s YOUR time.

    Living la vida fearless, Jan
